Balram Das Tandon was a long-serving Indian politician. One of the founding members of the Jansangh which later became the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he held several high-profile positions throughout his political career. He held the post of Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and was serving as the governor of Chhattisgarh at the time of his death.

Born on 1st November 1927, Tandon during his adulthood served as pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). A founding member of the Jan Sangh in 1951, he contributed a lot in the rise of the party which later became the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A six-time MLA,  he served as Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab in the Justice (retd) Gurnam Singh Akali Dal-Jan Sangh ministry in 1969-70. He was jailed from 1975 to 1977 during Emergency. The veteran leader was undoubtedly one of the strong pillars of Bharatiya Janata Party in Punjab. During his long illustrious career, he also served as cabinet minister in 1977-79 and in 1997-2002 in the ministries headed by Parkash Singh Badal. On 14 July 2014, he was named as the Governor of Chhattisgarh.

Illness and Death

Narendra Modi: Saddened by the demise of Shri Balramji Dass Tandon, the Governor of Chhattisgarh. We have lost a widely respected public figure whose service to society will always be remembered. My thoughts are with his family and well-wishers in this hour of grief.

Shri Balramji Dass Tandon spent decades working for peace and progress in Punjab. Passionate about sectors like industry and labour welfare, his administrative experience added great value to the state. He will be remembered for his courage while opposing the Emergency.

Married to Brijpal Tandon, who herself was an activist in the freedom movement, he is survived by two daughters- Alka Kawatra & Poonam Batra and son, Sanjay Tandon.

Install Hindi language

Step 1 : To Install Hindi Input Language For The Keyboard

1. From your device's home screen, open the Apps drawer.
2. Once inside the app drawer, navigate to the Settings app and tap on it.
3. Scroll down to find the Language & input option and tap on it.
4. In the Keyboard & Input Methods, you will find AOSP Android Keyboard.Tap on the Settings icon aligned to right side of it to open its settings.
5. Once in here, the first option you will find is the Input Languages, which houses all the keyboard layouts available for the keyboard panel. Tap on it to view them.
6. Select check mark on the right of the hindi language option, tap on the Home button at the bottom of the screen to return to the home screen.
